UK5G -Rural 5G & SMEs
The Global Digital Economy is expanding rapidly, and the Covid-19 crisis has underlined as never before the importance of high-quality digital connectivity in all aspects of business and personal life. Rural communities have historically struggled to obtain even basic levels of connectivity, but that is changing and 5G offers far greater flexibility on what can be done on a local and regional basis, even by using existing 4G networks as an initial foundation.
As part of 5G Week (7-11 September) UK5G, the national advisory body for the UK’s national 5G support programme, is holding a webinar that will look at 5G in the context of rural and extra-urban deployment for small businesses, agriculture and social and health care applications. Several case studies of rural 5G trials will be looked at including 5G Rural First and 5G New Thinking, with S5GC Board member, Bob Stewart, providing reflections and updates.
