Recruitment of Chair for the Scotland 5G Centre

The Scotland 5G Centre is seeking to appoint an outstanding individual to lead our Governing Board.

The Board is responsible for the maintenance and ongoing renewal of the Centre’s long-term strategy, overseeing the Executive Team’s delivery of that strategy, monitoring the Centre’s performance on behalf of its stakeholders and giving advice to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Executive Team.

The role

The Scotland 5G Centre is working with stakeholders from industry, academia and the public sector, and in addition to leading the Governing Board, the Chair will play a prominent role in:

  • positioning the Scotland 5G Centre at the forefront of digital innovation in Scotland
  • building relationships with key stakeholders in government, funding agencies, industry and academia
  • developing partnerships with sectoral organisations
  • building the business case and rationale for additional investment
  • promoting the Scotland 5G Centre at key events

Knowledge and experience

The Chair is expected to have a successful sector track record of successful leadership at senior level in an industrial or other professional capacity.

They will also be a prominent advocate for advancing technology adoption & business innovation, raising the profile of the Scotland 5G Centre and influencing all stakeholder groups. They will understand the roles of research & development (R&D), collaboration, innovation and commercialisation and will be a highly skilled communicator, practised in influencing at the highest levels.

The Scotland 5G Centre is hosted by the University of Strathclyde and the appointment process will be subject to the University’s policies and procedures, particularly concerning equality, diversity and transparency.
